Insadong, Seoul is the place to be if you want experience the hustle and bustle of tourists and locals side by side. Insadong may be home to gimmicky displays of traditional Korean practices and crafts in the middle of the street but don’t let that put you off a visit. The side streets are adjourned with wonderful, distinctive and unique tea rooms serving different varieties of Korean teas. The tea rooms provide the perfect antedote to the fast pace of Seoul, an hour or so spent drinking chesnut tea and watching the world go by cannot be beaten.
In addition Insadong is home to Ssamziegel, a five or six storey complex filled with boutiques, art shops and restaurants. It’s staircases are filled with sculptures, murals and signatures. The most stylish, forward thinking Koreans can be found here, browsing in the shops or strolling around.
